Sentipharm
SENTIPHARM A.G., BELGIAN BRANCH, is responsible for the worldwide distribution of medicines made in Heist-op-den-Berg and in other Schering-Plough manufacturing centres.
Sentipharm is charged with the export, distribution, storage and stockpiling of pharmaceutical, biological, chemical, medical and veterinary products. These include raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products.
Sentipharm, also known as IDC (International Distribution Centre), has as its main task - under commission - the supply to various sales outlets of finished products, manufacturing units for all materials, equipment, raw materials and packaging components.
Each year, Sentipharm processes and dispatches more than 30,000 orders or some 9000 tons of goods to more than 500 destinations worldwide.
At the beginning of 2006, Sentipharm will move to Boortmeerbeek, near Mechelen.
Sentipharm is responsible for the following services:
TRAFFIC/DISPATCH
This service is subdivided into three sections:
- Export
Processes export orders in an automated system (SAP) for worldwide distribution.
This section organises the transport by air, sea and land, and draws up all necessary shipping documentation.
After dispatch, all required commercial documents are sent to the customers of our representatives in order to guarantee prompt delivery at the destination.
- Customs
This section is responsible for all permits required by the Belgian customs authorities for the import, storage, processing and export of goods.
Sentipharm is connected directly to SADBEL, the automatic data processing system at Belgian Customs.
- Import
This section tracks all deliveries from abroad to our facilities at Heist-op-den-berg.
It ensures that goods arriving by air or sea can be recorded and delivered as quickly as possible.
WAREHOUSE
The warehouse, with storage capacity for 30,000 pallets over an area of 20,000 mē, is responsible for the following main activities:
- Worldwide
- Receipt of pharmaceutical and veterinary end products coming mainly from SP Labo Belgium or other SP facilities.
- Storage, location and inventory management using on line communications with the SAP system.
- Assembly and packaging of end products for customer orders received daily via the SAP system.
- Daily preparation and loading of customer orders on relevant trucks.
- Benelux distribution (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg)
Same as 'Worldwide', but here customer orders are sent each day via SAP to Heist from Schering-Plough NV in Brussels.
Deliveries are made only to hospitals and wholesalers, always within 24 hours.
- 75% of orders are destined for Belgium and Luxembourg
- 25% of orders are destined for the Netherlands
- Clinical studies for Benelux
Schering-Plough NV Brussels also entrusts the warehouse with preparing and packing products for clinical studies and sending these to doctors and hospitals.
WAREHOUSE QUALITY ASSURANCE
This section is responsible for all aspects of quality and guarantees complete adherence to all applicable procedures relevant to the warehouse and distribution activities.
